In January of 2024 I met Michelle Edelman the new owner and past President of Peter Mayer Agency to discuss coming on as their SVP/Chief Creative Officer. It was a strange experience as Michelle Edelman had just gone through two SVP CCO's after taking over the New Orleans institution. (1) Her vision was Joy. They "unleash brand joy, unlocking moments people crave." They also "find the joy inside brands and unleash it." Michelle Edelman is a strategy person at heart and she unfortunately unleashed that skillset on the agency. The approach is superficial and creatively unrealistic as attempting to execute Joy for any and all assignments is not how work is conceived or produced. Beyond limiting, it's also frighteningly unfair to clients as every brand persona is unique. The approach stinks like spoiled jambalaya.

Joy is the state of being that allows one to experience feelings of intense, long-lasting happiness and satisfaction of life. Advertising and marketing does not spread or create Joy. Emotions about a product or brand, yes, but Joy alone does not "drive real business results."
Michelle Edelman has also rebranded the agency. Its color scheme is now a pastel version of the LGBTQ+P flag and the UN's Great Reset branding. (2) It screams discriminatory and illegal DEI ideology (16) vs "independant creative agency", so they either missed Woke (9) boat or are beholden to the Corporate Equality Index (13), the Addis Ababa Action Agenda (15) that are being removed from corporate America. (3, 7, 14) Something I have written on extensively. I find great irony in the prominent focus on DEI and their one-dimensional marketing approach of Joy.
The way the new Peter Mayer have position themselves is so odd, shallow and fake that it reminds one of Kamala Harris's current Presidential campaign run, "The candidate of Joy."
Rolling Stone gushed that Harris' “new politics of joy is the best way to fight fascism.” (4) Joy in a totalitarian sense. You will feel joy or we will beat it into you? "You will own nothing and be happy," as the World Economic Forum (WEF) likes to say? (5) "As it turns out, the tidal wave of enthusiasm was not entirely genuine. Much of the content, including Montooth’s videos, was quietly funded by an elusive group of Democratic billionaires and major donors in an arrangement designed to conceal the payments from voters. RealClearInvestigations obtained internal documents and WhatsApp messages from Democratic strategists behind the influencer campaign. Way to Win, one of the major donor groups behind the effort, spent more than $9.1 million on social media influencers during the 2024 presidential election – payments revealed here for the first time. The amount was touted in a document circulated after the election detailing the organization’s accomplishments. The effort supported over 550 content creators who published 6,644 posts across platforms, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Twitch, and X. Way to Win coached creators on phrases, issue areas, and key themes to “disseminate pro-Kamala content throughout the cycle,” a post-election memo from the group noted." (17)
Marxism does use the mask of joy to manipulate the masses. (12)
As American's suffered from massive government over spending, inflation (8), an economic depression - record high layoffs & record low new hires (10), unprecedented rise in crime, violations of their Constitutional rights, open border invsdion (11), higher taxes, a geopolitical catastrophy; American's are feeling disgust toward the incumbant political party, not Joy. It's manipulation, false hope and an overpromise that cannot be or is intended to be delivered.
Peter Meyer must feel the same way about his namesake.
